A Bit About Our Village

The village of Lovedean lies within the civil Parish of Horndean in East Hampshire. It is centred around the main road Lovedean Lane.
The name Lovedean derives from c.1594 when Isabel Norton married Thomas Loveden of East Meon, and included in the dowry was part of the Manor of Catherington. Historically, Lovedean fell within the Parish of Catherington. (See British History for more detail).

Our village has some of the most historically important dwellings in the wider area, such as Rose Cottage (on the corner of James Copse Road) which dates from the 17th century.

We are fortunate to be surrounded with beautiful countryside with access to stunning walks right on our doorstep. On a hot day there is nothing like a stroll through Yoells Copse to cool down, or heading out over the hills to admire the views.

Lovedean is home to the bustling Bird in Hand pub and Lovedean Village Hall.

We have a vibrant local community including a thriving WI and toddlers group. During lockdown you will often see our Secretary trotting up and down Lovedean Lane with bags of groceries for those who need to stay home. Others are doing their part too, and there is even a Facebook group created to help each other out in the crisis (thank you Louisa).

We have our own Facebook page and group, where we can share information about the local community. Please join us there and have your say: LVRA on Facebook
